  高考英语阅读专题练习B:

  (2014·北京海淀区第二学期期末练习)

On a February day during an unusually mild winter, I found myself missing the snowy beauty. I enjoyed the feeling that comes from watching snow fall gently from heaven while I'm cosy inside with a good fire burning in the stove. But there were more serious concerns, like the lack of rainfall making our woods more accessible to summer forest fires. Local ski fields and hotels, all dependent on a snowy season, felt sorry for the vacant lifts, empty restaurants and unused snowmobiles.

Then I happened to see three little robins (知更鸟) fly into our yard. What were they doing here? West of us, in the Willamette Valley, wild flowers burst this time of year. But here in central Oregon, even if a groundhog (土拨鼠) had wanted to appear, it couldn't have broken through the frozen earth. And yet, these robins had arrived.

Their presence brought me a flow of happiness. It felt like a celebration as I dug into my bag of birdseed and spread a handful on the ground. Above me, the deep blue sky was cloudless, perfectly quiet but for some smoke from a neighbor's chimney. The lively cold made the air fresh and clean. My robins jumped lightly toward the seed. My soul jumped with them, feeling equally carefree.

Caught up in the moment of spring fever, I checked our snowless flower beds. To my delight, I spotted a green branch sticking out through the brown soil.

Despite the cold, I wasn't ready to go back inside. Just a short meeting with those robins had renewed my spirit. The next day I would return to my outdoor work with a cheerful heart and a hopeful eye for these signs of spring.

  5. The author missed a snowy winter because snow could ________.

  A. prevent forest fires

  B. boom his business

  C. promise an early spring

  D. bring him a good feeling

  6. The author felt happy when finding ________.

  A. the sky was deep blue with clouds

  B. three little robins flew into his yard

  C. wild flowers burst in the Willamette Valley

  D. a groundhog appeared through the frozen earth

  7. We can infer from the passage that the author ________.

  A. would enjoy wild flowers the next day

  B. thought winter was already over

  C. longed for the coming of spring

  D. loved robins the most

  高考英语阅读专题练习C:

  (2014-2015学年普通高中高三教学质量监测)

You think texting while walking is dangerous, just wait until everyone starts wearing Google's futuristic, Internetconnected glasses.

While wearing a pair, you can see directions to your destination appear before your eyes. You can talk to friends over video chat, take a photo or even buy a few things online as you walk around.

These glasses can do anything you now need a smart phone or tablet computer to do.

The model glasses displayed have a fashionable wraparound look and appear nothing like clumsy 3D glasses.

In development for a couple of years, the project is the brainchild of Google X, the online searchleader's secret facility(实验室) that developed the selfdriving car and could one day send elevators into space.

“My son is 4 years old and this is going to be his generation's reality,” said Guy Bailey, who works as a social media supervisor for a university outside Atlanta, GA. He expects it might even be followed by body implants(移植), so that in 10 years or so you'll be able to get such a “headsup display” inside your head.

In Google's video, a guy wearing the glasses is shown getting subway information, arranging to meet a friend for coffee and navigating the inside of a bookstore, all with the help of the glasses. It ends with him playing the ukulele for a woman and showing her the sunset through a video chat. Google posted the video and short blog post about Project Glass on Wednesday, asking people to offer feedback through its Google Plus social network.

By Thursday, about 500 people did, voicing a mix of amazement and concern about the new technology. What if people used it in cars and got distracted? What about the effect on your vision of having a screen so close to your eye?

8.Which of the following is NOT true about the Google's glasses?

A.It can serve as a smart phone or tablet computer.

B.You can do some shopping online while walking.

C.It just looks like 3D glasses.

D.It can be used to show the directions.

  9.Google X is a facility that ________.

A.has already sent elevators into space

B.develops the Internetconnected glasses and new products

  C.has made body implants possible

  D.is an online search leader

10.What can be concluded from the last paragraph?

A.About 500 people filled in the questionnaire on line.

B.Google will still need some changes to improve their project.

C.People are all surprised about the new glasses and look forward to them.

D.People can arrange a date with the help of the glasses.

11.Where is the passage probably taken from?

  A.A newspaper. B.A guidebook.

  C.A science fiction. D.A textbook.
